NJ Pathways Happenings: Esports at Brookdale Community College
With its brand new, state-of-the-art gaming arena completed in August of 2023, Brookdale Community College is now proud to offer esports to our students and community members alike. Brookdale Community College worked with Camden County College, the first NJ Community College with curriculum and an arena for Esports, to build its own arena and curriculum. Whether it be intercollegiate competition at the varsity level for our full-time students, producing professional quality streams and content, competing in tournaments or in-house leagues we host, or just stopping by to take it easy and game with friends, Brookdale Esports welcomes you to enjoy all that we have to offer.
Brookdale has launched an Esports program, featuring three varsity-level teams and two club level teams who gather in the new $1.4 million Brookdale Esports Arena. The players compete against other colleges in the National Junior College Athletic Association. Brookdale is the latest New Jersey school to offer gaming as an organized sport, treating it no different than traditional sports and giving its students a unique opportunity.
Earlier this year, Brookdale Community College’s Esports team, the Jersey Blues, competed in the National Junior College Athletic Association Esports (NJCAAE) National Championship Valorant Tournament Finals. The team’s remarkable journey to the finals followed an undefeated streak, demonstrating its strong skillset and dedication to excellence in competitive gaming.
