Dr. Mark McCormick

Treasurer, Middlesex College

Dr. Mark McCormick serves as the seventh President of Middlesex College.  Since his appointment in July 2018, President McCormick has focused on increasing access to college for Middlesex County residents, improving student success outcomes for Middlesex College students, and preparing Middlesex College graduates for success after graduation.

Under his leadership, Middlesex College has increased access to college courses for students in high school by significantly lowering the tuition rate for high school students, more than tripling participation in Dual Enrollment and creating pathways to an associate degree while students are in high school.  He has also championed the transition to free and low-cost alternatives to high-cost textbooks, including the development of Open Educational Resources.

A passionate advocate for student success, President McCormick encouraged and supported faculty in the reform of developmental education leading to improved success rates in gateway courses in English and Mathematics, shortened time for students to complete an associate degree, and higher graduation rates.  He also believes in the value of preparing students for careers by engaging them in experiential learning and equipping them with skills that are valued by employers.

President McCormick served as a faculty member for 18 years and held senior leadership positions at Mercer County Community College and Salem Community College before his appointment as Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs at Middlesex College and then President.

An effective communicator who believes in transparency, Dr. McCormick seeks to foster a sense of community among Middlesex College faculty, staff, and external stakeholders, exemplified by his popular weekly Friday Memo that highlights what is happening on campus and the achievements of students, faculty and staff, and alumni.
