Dr. Anthony J. Iacono
Vice Chair, County College of Morris
Dr. Anthony J. Iacono, a community college graduate, became the third president of County College of Morris (CCM) on September 1, 2016. He is committed to the mission of community colleges because of their ability to strengthen lives and communities through superior academic programs that are affordable as well as their ability to create a pipeline of highly skilled workers for business and industry. As an advocate of social and economic mobility, and the opportunity for all people to achieve the American dream, Dr. Iacono intensely focuses upon the responsibility of our nation’s community colleges to collaborate and create a learning environment for all students to access success. As a community college graduate, he understands the life-changing impact community colleges make annually upon the millions of people who are created equal and deserve justice. This principle is at the forefront of Dr. Iacono’s leadership of and contributions to CCM in addition to the many organizations embracing his involvement awarding recognition at the local, state and national level.
As a member of the American Association of Community College’s Commission on Economic and Workforce Development, Chair of the New Jersey Presidents’ Council for Higher Education, Vice Chair of the Morris County Chamber of Commerce, Council Secretary of the New Jersey Council of County Colleges, an Executive Board Member of the state’s technology consortium NJEDge, Executive Board Member of the New Jersey Business & Industry Association, the Morris County Hispanic-American Chamber of Commerce-Corporate Advisory Council, the New Jersey Council for the Humanities, the Atlantic Health Community Advisory Board, and numerous other local, state, and national committees, Dr. Iacono is committed to leading with excellence, innovation, and impact.
He has been recognized as a prominent leader in education in New Jersey most recently being named for the fourth time by ROI-NJ to its ROI Influencers Power List in Higher Education, 2022. Since 2019 NJBIZ honors Dr. Iacono naming him for three years in a row one of its Power 50 Educators as well as being named to New Jersey’s Power 50 Manufacturing Leaders by NJBIZ, 2019. Throughout his years of service, Dr. Iacono has received numerous recognitions by the United States House of Representatives, the New Jersey Legislature, and from organizations in Morris County for his work in education and economic development.
A strong supporter of higher education and its power to transform lives, Dr. Iacono has served as an advisor to the United States Department of Education, the Florida Department of Education and various national think tanks and educational reform organizations. He is also one of the four founders of Florida’s Institute for the Professional Development of Adult Educators.
Dr. Iacono is a first-generation college student who received his Ph.D. in American History from Mississippi State University, his M.A. and B.A. in American History from the University of Central Florida, and his Associate in Arts in General Studies from Indian River Community College.
