NJ Pathways Student Spotlight: UCNJ Produces Highly Qualified and Industry Preferred Certified Clinical Medical Assistant

Cameron Fuentes embarked on her journey in the Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) program at UCNJ Union College of Union County, NJ (UCNJ) on September 18, 2023. UCNJ enhanced its health services related programs through the Center of Workforce Innovation for Patient Care under the NJ Pathways to Career Opportunities initiative for the past two years. The Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) Pilot Program is one of those NJ Pathways Projects.

Cameron’s unwavering dedication to acquiring new skills was evident from the start. Her hard work paid off as she completed the CCMA program. Through the CCMA program, she earned several credentials including Certified Phlebotomy Technician, Certified EKG Technician, and Certified Clinical Medical Assistant from the National Healthcareer Association (NHA). Additionally, she earned the Basic Life Support (BLS)/CPR certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).

Hackensack Meridian Health (HMH), an employer partner of the college, is instrumental in bridging education and employment opportunities for UCNJ’s students and graduates. HMH conducts informational sessions and remote live interview sessions for UCNJ’s CCMA program students which have led to successful employment for UCNJ alumni, including Cameron.

Currently, Cameron is employed as a Certified Clinical Medical Assistant at HMH within its esteemed Cardiac Surgery/Structural Heart practice in Hackensack, NJ. Her achievements stand as a testament to her dedication and hard work, as well as UCNJ’s top-rated CCMA program. UCNJ is proud to celebrate her success.
